9:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. – C&O Canal National Park Museum and Allegany County Visitor’s Center, Western Maryland Railway Station
Built primarily by Irish immigrants, the C&O Canal connected Georgetown, Washington, DC to Cumberland, MD. Visitors enter the main exhibit area through a re-created Paw Paw Tunnel. Once inside the main exhibit hall, visitors have the opportunity to view and interact with exhibits related to boat building at the Cumberland boatyards, the Allegany County coal industry that shipped on the canal and the significance of Cumberland, Maryland as a transportation center.
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Explore Your Irish Heritage, Washington Street Library
Explore your Irish heritage with certified genealogist Marsha L. Fuller, Regional PR Coordinator for Western Maryland Regional Library. 4:30 p.m. – Blessing of the Celtic Cross Monument, Canal Place Festival Grounds
Dedicated to the Irish immigrants who labored building the C&O Canal and the B&O Railroad.
4:45 – 7 p.m. – Irish Ceilidh – Western Maryland Railway Station
Ceilidh (an Irish party with music and dancing) will be held in the Western Maryland Railway Station and sponsored by Canal Place Heritage Place. Enjoy Irish music performed by Jeff Thomas and John Neral and Irish libations. Money raised will be donated to the Allegany County Special Olympics and other local programs for the developmentally disabled.
7:45 a.m. – 15K Run for the Plunge, Rocky Gap State Park

Come and plunge! Or just come and enjoy the sites and cheer your favorite
plunger along with great Irish music from the Shanty Irish. Masters of ceremonies for the day are Hannah from WFRB and Jim Van from GO106. Food and beverages available.
